The original pet cone was inspired by the Elizabethan Ruff, a ruffled collar piece that, with the advent of starch, evolved into grandiose decorative saucers worn around the necks of fashionistas in the latter half of the sixteenth century.

Our unique art campaign calls on leading artists and designers to transform the "cone of shame" for the purposes of drawing attention to the animal causes of adoption, wellness, and recovery.
Our goal is to change attitudes about pet cones, the stigmatizing medical devices prescribed for animals recovering from surgery or injury.
Pet cones help expedite an animal’s recovery, and there are a wide variety of cones available to serve an animal’s specific needs.
The cone as a blank canvas has proven to inspire MTAC artists and designers from around the world. The sale of cone-artwork generates funds that go directly to MTAC’s local and national partnered animal charity organizations.
The public has a chance to view the cone-art in person at our events where we bring together animal advocacy groups, the veterinary community, and the art world for good times with a purpose.
