More Than a Cone

Andrew Marttila

Andrew is an unrelenting animal enthusiast.  Since he was deathly allergic to cats and dogs, larger animals always remained at arm's length.  Throughout the years, however, Andrew owned a variety of animals including hedgehogs, sugar gliders, and reptiles. At the age of 22, he decided it was time to overcome his allergy and build an immunity through exposure.  Having accomplished this, his adoration for larger animals is making up for lost time.

Andrew started taking photos a few years ago, primarily as a hobby as his love for cats came into its own. He now owns a Bengal cat and lives with two dogs and another Bengal cat.  Andrew is a self-taught photographer whose work has gained notoriety and he loves taking photos for others.

Andrew lives in Fishtown, Philadelphia and recently graduated with a degree in neuroscience and religion from Temple University. In his free time, he's engaged in various visual and audial arts. Andrew plays the drums and makes stop motion animation. His style incorporates facets of portraiture, anthropomorphizing, and macro photography. His atypical skillset and approach succeeds in capturing the unique personality of each animal.
